The purpose of this paper is to present a new research perspective in linguistics, termed Cognitive Linguistic Typology, that enables us to elucidate the relations among particular cognitive modes and grammatical categories or constructions. In other words, this perspective, grounded in the paradigm of Cognitive Linguistics, proves that particular cognitive “construals” emerge as peculiar grammatical categories or linguistic constructions through “iconicity.”
